Users of Docstoc have been informed that it will be abandoning its services by December, 1. The notification came through mail. Here is the snapshot:
Docstoc created a unique identity for itself as a place to find documents related to small businesses and professional life. Scribd and Slideshare were its biggest competitors of the company which was acquired by software behemoth, Intuit back in 2013 for a figure bigger than $50M.
The shutdown call came from the management of Intuit, and it has been stated that the company no longer wants to continue the product. Probably, the parent company has a big strategy in which Docstoc doesn’t fit. This could be the only reason of shutting down an established brand.
While fate of Docstoc is sealed, there is still no clarity on the products that were part of its ecosystem. Our team will keep you updated if anything new comes up but for the time being, don’t forget to retrieve copies of the documents in your Docstoc account.
